Andrea Feathers - I take my artist name from my poultry paintings. As long as I can remember I have been creating art — I made cards for my elementary school bus driver! I was a kid who did not mind writing thank you notes because it was another reason for an artistic endeavor. The love of being creative and visual lead me to a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Rochester Institute of Technology.
I think I did not truly appreciate being an artist until only a few years ago. For some reason I had this division in my mind between Graphic Design and Art. Not so! Creative inspiration comes from all over and might happen at any time — and I believe it can happen to any of us if we let it.
On the professional side, I have been carrying out design projects for a Fortune 100 company and its clients. I consider myself lucky getting to know our clients and their businesses– and then turning their information into something visual that is easy to understand and helps get things done.
Still going strong with my "chicken phase", many works involve watercolors, acrylics, block prints, mono-prints, marker and pencil drawings, and tile mosaics.
My work is light hearted and it is intended to bring viewers cheer. It is so much fun when people tell me what is happening in one of my paintings. They don't ask me, they just go ahead and tell me the story. I love that! They have gotten involved. It is these small, hopeful breaks that makes life better for all of us.
